Mermaid and Butterflies by taiche
A mermaid is a mythological aquatic creature with a female human head and torso and the tail of a fish. Mermaids have a broad representation in folklore, literature, and popular culture. The mermaids meaning and symbolism is forever linked with water. As water is a symbol of intuition, emotion, the subconscious and deeply primitive realms of mental perception - so too is the mermaid. Mermaids are matrons of enchantment, entreating sailors with beguiling beauty, grace and mesmerizing melodies. Seductive and charming, all those in contact with mermaids are subject to their persuasion.
Butterflies are symbolic of the soul, rebirth, and some believe when a butterfly lands on you it means good luck.
